Hahahahaha!
Get down with your bad self, Bert!
I love this song and this skit. It's the original that aired in 1973. Bert is so awesome, srsly. I always enjoy when you get to see the full body versions of the characters! :)
"See the one with feathers. Right behind...oh, you didn't see him. That was Bernie. He's really a character. I tell you."
::snorts and giggles::

Date: 2009-12-06 02:06 am (UTC)Technically the first full body Muppet is Splurge - the big purple monster who has a mega fondness for radishes - in Hey Cinderalla! which was made in 1965.
However --
You are correct! Other than Big Bird - who always walks around, lol - it looks like Bert was the FIRST time a standard waist up Muppet was FULLY shown with legs and all.
Oh! That leaping deer creature episode - TOTALLY the VERY first The Muppet Show episode! The Green Gazelles (the deer creatures) and Juliet Prowse (man, is she gorgeous) did that lovely ballet called "Solace". HEE!
I love you like dying. ::muah::

Date: 2009-12-06 06:35 am (UTC)Anyway. It was a beautiful ballet sequence. Very worthy of "Solace." The boxed set of the series is totally on my "When I get a Real Job" List along with soooo many others. Did you hear/see there's a DVD set for Sesame Street now that is "not for children's educational purposes"?
LOVE BACK.
PS- Is it good to be loved like dying? People generally don't enjoy dying. I mean we work really hard to avoid it. [ponders] You love me like dying? [whimpers] Whatever I did I'm sorry. I mean, can we talk about this? Couldn't you possibly love me like... a cold? The flu maybe? Not the Swine Flu because... Well, the Miss Piggy Flu would be ok.
