Top Fifteen Fictional Couples of All Time
Feb. 22nd, 2005 03:24 amWhy top fifteen you may ask? Well...ten was too little...and twenty was too much LOL. So fifteen seemed like a nice compromise.
Your top fifteen couples can be from television, movies, soaps and books. (Mine are all of the above LOL) If you can't get fifteen...don't worry LOL. Gimme what you got!
So here they are....
#15. Veronica and Logan (Veronica Mars) - Veronica is our heroine whose spunk, intelligence and wit remind me of a certain other blonde heroine. Logan appeared to be what Veronica lovingly called the "obligatory pyschotic jackass" who surprisedly had layers reminiscent of a certain mobster I love. They are always at each others thoarts but when the chips are down, they come through.
#14. Edward and Vivian (Pretty Woman) - The classic Cinderella story...with a bit of a twist. Cinderella's a hooker. This was the movie where Julia Roberts first truly shined and where Richard Gere first made my heart go pitter-patter.
#13. Dan and Roseanne - The lovable, screwed up, middle aged, lower class couple that stole my young heart. Through everything that happened I loved how much they seemed to love each other.
#12. Eve and Roarke (In Death series) - Two more diffent people you couldn't meet. I used to compare them to my #1 couple but since the progress of their relationship and marriage over the last few years I've come to see them in their own unique original way. Roarke would kill for his woman. Eve would die for her man. They are too good. I recommed the series to anyone whose never read it. (*ahem* That be you, Ms.
wouldbedorothy...)
#11. Rick and Evelyn (The Mummy movies) - I called them the "Action adventure Nick and Nora". Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weiss had such a powerful onscreen movie chemistry which is rare these days. The banter and sexual tension between the characters is potent. The sequel showcased the deep love and rightness of their match.
#10. Dwayne and Whitley - The main reason I watched A Different World was to see the geeky freshman get the stuck up princess...and he did.
#9. Ross and Rachel - What can I say about this on again-off again couple? From day one you knew he was her lobster. From rainy night kisses to "we need a break" to having a child together to FINALLY giving in to destiny...these two were what I rooted for all along.
#8. Nico and Cecily - Oh these two won me over with their hysterical hijinks and their constant bickering. It was the first time I was blessed to lay eyes upon Maurice Benard. His chemistry and banter with Rosa Nevin gave me my first taste at the wackiness of soap couples.
#7. Jared and Ms. Parker - The couple that was never a couple gave me my love of unrequited love. For as long as The Pretender ran I wanted these two together. I never even recieved a kiss. But the hope is still alive that they would be together.
#6. Mulder and Scully - The only Feds I've EVER loved individually and together. The fans knew they were meant to be. We cried when our Mulder was taken from Scully. Cheered when they had a child together. Wept when we believed him dead and melted into a puddle when they finally reunited, leaving together in the sunset.
TIE #5. Jareth and Sarah (Labyrinth} and Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy (Pride and Prejudice) - I could not find two couples that could be more different if I tried. (Though April may disagree LOL) One came to us from the genius of Jim Henson and the other from the imagination of Jane Austen. Jareth and Sarah were not your typical couple...she was 14...he was a few hundred years old...but what was onscreen could never be denied. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy were always on opposite ends. Fire meets Ice. It gave me my first look at Colin Firth...yummy.
TIE #4. Lois and Clark and John and Aeryn - Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher...need a person ask more. I adored this series and wished ABC had loved it as much as me. They did the Superman comics some justice so no complaints. Ben Bowder and Claudia Black made interstellar romance into an art form. Their chemisty was seriously out of this would (no pun intended...)Thanks to David Kemper, Brian Henson and Sci-Fi for giving us a happy ending...of sorts.
#3. Spike and Buffy - The slayer and her vampire love were the best story I'd seen on a primetime show in a long time. You know Spike was a goner from the moment he laid eyes on Buffy. And though she could never allow herself love him in quite the same way...he loved her enough for the both of them.
#2. Lloyd and Diana (Say Anything) - John Cusack made me fall in love with him in this movie. Ione Skye was my idol for the latter part of my teen years. It was such a sweet, intelligent and real love story. It gave all those who dreamed about one person the hope they could get them.
And Surprise...Surprise....MY #1 FICTIONAL COUPLE OF ALL TIME IS......
#1. Sonny and Carly - I won't even begin to try to explain why I love this two especially since most of you already know why...I will only state this...They are and always will be...perfect. 'Nuff said.
